I Do Not Like Thee, Doctor Fell
Thursday, February 24, 2005 - Market Place Theatre
I Do Not Like Thee, Doctor Fell by Bernard Farrell to be performed in the Studio Theatre, the Market Place Theatre, Armagh.
In this, his hugely popular first play, Bernard Farrell mercilessly exposes the simmering jealousies and deceptions amongst the hapless members of a dysfunctional self-help encounter group. While encouraged to express 'total honesty' for its positive therapeutic value, the youngest member of the group exposes individual participants' lies and prejudices to devastating comic effect.
Director Peter Kelly has assembled an enormously experienced and talented cast which includes Malcolm Dawson as Paddy, the cynical and worldly wise caretaker, Chris Flight as the enigmatic Joe, Diane Gowing as the enthusiastic Suzy, the encounter group leader, Felim Rafferty as academic narcissist Roger, Mary Lamb as the ailurophile Rita, Charlie Knipe as successful businessman Peter and Hilary Good, Peter's 'trophy' wife, Maureen. This is black comedy at its best with strong elements of thriller and suspense and promises to be a funny, gripping and highly entertaining theatrical experience.
The Theatre Group decided in early January that it wished to make a contribution to the Tsunami Relief Fund and to this end the proceeds of our Saturday night performance will be donated to the Fund. We are particularly grateful to the Management of the Market Place Theatre who have waived their charges for that night and to Rosica Colin Ltd who have reduced the Royalty charge for this performance so we can maximise our donation.
